After-School Volunteers

by Cassie Swayze, After School Programs Associate VISTA

Almost all of our nearly sixty campuses are already in the swing of the semester over at TAP After-School. We have so many gifted Teaching Artists in schools around Central Texas this spring and they all need your help! Are you interested in helping a Teaching Artist in their classroom? Want to learn more about TAP’s unique approach to learning? Interested in assisting in a theatre, art, music, or puppet class? Want to have FUN once a week inspiring Austin area youth?

Then volunteering in one of Theatre Action Project’s dynamic After-School classes might be right for you! After-School volunteers are integral to the success of our Teaching Artists. This volunteer opportunity requires a once a week commitment in an After-School class exploring social themes through a variety of mediums: drama, music, art, dance, and much more! You will spend an entire semester with one of TAP’s talented Teaching Artists in classrooms across Austin; we currently have programming in Austin, Del Valle, Round Rock, Manor, Bastrop, and Eanes ISD. After-School volunteers might help prep craft projects, assist in building a large-scale puppet, help film a video, or even build a set for an original play. Theatre or art skills are not required but enthusiasm is a necessity!

Contact Cassie Swayze, at cassie@theatreactionproject.org or call 442-8773 ext 109 to learn more about volunteering with TAP After-School. We can’t wait to hear from you!
