Headed to Boston!

by Patrick Torres, Middle School and High School Program Director

I am all packed up to go to Boston, MA for the National Guild for Community Arts Education’s National Conference today! I am looking forward to spending a few days getting to know peers from around the country while learning new practices and strategies to strengthen the work we are doing here at TAP. Personally, I will be attending many workshops on evaluation and assessment. We are hard at work on refining all of our current assessment tools on a day to day basis here in the TAP offices, so we are eager to test out these ideas with the collective brain bank of like minded artists that will be gathered in Boston. I believe that is the greatest gift of conferences: the chance to measure your own work against the theories and practices of the incredible people with common goals. I know I will learn a great deal from them, and I hope I can offer them some insight as well. That way, we can all go back to our respective cities and towns all across this country with new, fresh ideas and truly impact our communities – now there is something to be thankful for!

I look forward to letting you in on all we learn once we return!
