Make Plans for the Cupcake-A-Doodle-Do! this Saturday

by Chelsea Gilman, Business Manager

Need plans for this Saturday! Well, we have a place for you to be. This Saturday is the Cupcake-A-Doodle-Do! from 12-3pm at Central Market North.  I’m super excited to have expanded this event over the last 3 years, so now we have more bakeries and sponsors than ever before!

Why should you go? Well let me tell all the fun to come!

The Biscuit Brothers

With 9 competing bakeries, the competition will be fierce for who the judges will pick.  Remember, anyone can be a judge just by showing up and tasting cupcakes!  Bakeries are competing for 5 different awards: Best Dressed (decorated), Keep Cupcakes Weird (craziest), Healthiest (but still tasty), Survey Says (audience voting), and the Doodle Do (judges pick).

Don’t forget about the arts and crafts stations: cupcake playdough making, cupcake puppets, aprons, chef’s hats, and face painting.  In addition,  The Biscuit Brothers and storyteller Carl Anderson who will perform.  I know I’m excited to sample some of Austin’s finest cupcakes (you can never go wrong with cupcakes).

Family fun (and sugar) awaits you (and me) on Saturday!

P.S. My favorite cupcake is red velvet with cream cheese icing because it is SO DELICIOUS!
Runner-up: chocolate with peanut butter icing and a peanut butter cup on top.
Mmmm… I’m hungry… is it Saturday yet?

P.P.S. Make sure you check out KEYE’s Austin Live this afternoon at 4 p.m. to see 3 of the competing bakeries talk about the event and decorate cupcakes.  In addition, Friday on Fox’s Good Day Austin listen for the mention of this awesome event again.
