Partnerships

by Mary Alice Carnes , Community Relations Director

One of my goals as the Community Relations Director at Theatre Action Project is to seek partnerships with people and organizations that complement our respective goals missions. One such partnership is with Texas Tower PR, a University of Texas student-run public relations firm. As a client of Tower PR, TAP has a sounding board with communications students and faculty on a wide variety of communications and marketing topics throughout the year, and its fun too. TAP, in turn, provides real work experiences for students who are studying to become tomorrow’s communications leaders.  Who are the special partners in your world?

Today we’d reprint a Tower PR blog about TAP support Sara Hickman.  Special thanks to Alexandria from Tower PR.

Account Spotlight: Theatre Action Project
Tower’s client spotlight belongs to Theatre Action Project, a non-profit dedicated to providing arts education around the Austin area. Earlier this year, TAP teamed up with renowned Texas musician Sara Hickman to uphold their mission of providing creative arts education for social change.

The recently released “The Best of Times” CD features more than 30 Texas music icons such as Robert Earl Keen, Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians, and Willie Nelson. All proceeds of the album benefit Theatre Action Project and its art education programs in Central Texas.

Hickman was named the official musician of Texas in 2010 by the Texas Commission for Arts and has used her title to promote funding for the arts and creative education, making her a perfect match for Theatre Action Project.

After recently performing on Austin City Limit’s Austin Kiddie Limits stage, Sara Hickman will be performing at Waterloo records on September 29th at 5 p.m. to commemorate the national release of “The Best of Times.” Waterloo is the official retailer of the CD and the event will also feature performances by Elizabeth Wills and Patrice Pike.

For more information, visit “The Best of Times” or download it on iTunes.
