These are a few of my favorite things…

by Mary Alice Carnes, Community Relations Manager

Songs For the Stage Theatre Action Project camp starts next week and some of my favorite musicals are playing in my head. See if you can match up the lyrics below to its corresponding musical.  Click the link below each set of lyrics to see the answers.  How many you can correctly guess?

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Song and Musical

It’s time to try
Defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
And you can’t pull me down!
Song and Musical

Grovel, grovel, cringe, bow, stoop, fall
Worship, worship, beg, kneel, sponge, crawl
Song and Musical

You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Song and Musical

Ingonyama nengw’ enamabala
Night
And the spirit of life calling
Mamela
And a voice
With the fear of a child asking
Mamela
Song and Musical

Ev’ry duke and earl and peer is here
Ev’ryone who should be here is here.
What a smashing, positively dashing
Spectacle: the Ascot op’ning day.
Song and Musical

I never knew that it could happen
Till it happened to me
I didn’t know it before
But now it’s easy to see
Song and Musical

And Mama says it doesn’t matter
If you’re a king or you’re a clown
Once you drive up a mountain
You can’t back down
