Summer Play

by Mary Alice Carnes, Community Relations Manager

The heat of the summer should not deter anyone from connecting with some “cool” activities. Our summer camp kids are currently in the midst of Theatre Action Project’s summer camp and they are having so much creative fun including making plays, being heroes and legends, and singing for the stage.

TAP staff and Teaching Artists are also enjoying the summer break by taking part in theatre productions, volunteering, writing, swimming, creating videos and films, taking workshops, reading new original plays, reading books, taking vacations (hopefully somewhere cooler than Texas!), and attending shows.

Engage in summer play and refresh yourself! You can also volunteer at TAP and make an important and fun contribution while getting away from it all.

If you need an incentive on why it’s important to play, check out this article by Rosemary King, Even Adults Can Benefit From Play.

About creativeactionaustin

We are based in Austin, Texas and reach more than 16,000 young people every year through our unique blend of theatre and education programs. Our programs expose young people to critical social problems and offer opportunities for them to creatively think about how they can be a part of solutions to these problems. Creative Action is a unique blend of art and education – for us, the two are intertwined. We believe that using the arts as a teaching method provides a fun, engaging and inspiring way to learn – it incorporates the whole mind and body.
