Gearing Up for the Fall

by Brian C. Fahey, Program and Marketing Coordinator

Summer may be in full swing but fall is shortly upon us. Summer for Theatre Action Project is definitely all about camps but behind the scenes our full-time staff is busy preparing for the upcoming school year. Consider this:

  • During 2010-2011 TAP reached more than 16,000 young people and
  • On an average week at TAP we deliver approximately 480 hours of programming to youth Pre-K through 12th grade.

So right now we’re gearing up for programs at Housing Authority and City of Austin sites, Foundation Communities complexes, private schools, charter schools and all 6 of Austin’s public school districts. We deliver program during the school day, in the afternoon hours and well into the evening. We are also present at several community events each month.

It takes careful planning and dozens of talented teaching artists to deliver programming as far reaching as TAP’s. For more on our impact, I invite you to visit http://www.theatreactionproject.org/TAP_Impact.html.

The 2011-2012 school year is going to be a one. Will you join us?

About creativeactionaustin

We are based in Austin, Texas and reach more than 16,000 young people every year through our unique blend of theatre and education programs. Our programs expose young people to critical social problems and offer opportunities for them to creatively think about how they can be a part of solutions to these problems. Creative Action is a unique blend of art and education – for us, the two are intertwined. We believe that using the arts as a teaching method provides a fun, engaging and inspiring way to learn – it incorporates the whole mind and body.
