Guest Blog: Changing Lives is back for the summer!

Writing inspiration in the Blanton Art Museum.

by Avital Stolar, Summer Intern at Theatre Action Project

We are three weeks into our program with the summer Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble , which is full of enthusiastic and super talented teens. These ensemble members have been writing monologues inspired by different prompts including visual art, video clips, and their own personal experiences.

Pure awesomeness.

They have also begun to do improvisational activities and acting work as well. We would love to share some pictures from our field trip to the Blanton Museum of Art.  Tells us what  you think about them.

We invite  you to check in on us again in a few weeks to see what we’ve created!

Avital Stolar is a playwright and artist, from Houston, who is currently studying theatre at The University of Texas.

Colton interacting with the art while sending us personalized messages.

Karla found her piece.

Nick deep in writing.
Woah!

A little creepy.

Colton and Marielle hanging on every word Nitra says. Time to look at some art to inspire our monologues!

Creative Action is a unique blend of art and education – for us, the two are intertwined. We believe that using the arts as a teaching method provides a fun, engaging and inspiring way to learn – it incorporates the whole mind and body.
