April Showers Us With TAP’s Youth Fine Arts Festival

by Florinda Bryant, Programming Specialist

Flowers blooming, sun shining, tax day and Executive Director Karen LaShelle’s birthday, these are just a few April cues, that let us at TAP know Spring is here. These are also cues that our Youth Fine Arts Festival is near.

This our fourth year presenting our Youth Fine Arts Festival, a community showcase for our Middle School and High School students and their families. Each year the festival gets bigger and better. It is a wonderful opportunity for our young artists, whom come from AISD, MISD and DVISD, to connect with each other and present some of what they have been creating this year. We are really excited about this year’s showcase. We will not only have the Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble presenting but other youth performance groups. There will be an interactive art installation, workshops and demonstrations.

This event is open to the public. We would love to see you at the Boyd Vance Theatre at the George Washington Carver History Museum, 1165 Angelina Street, Austin, TX 78702-2034 on May 21st at 1:30 p.m.

Creative Action is a unique blend of art and education – for us, the two are intertwined. We believe that using the arts as a teaching method provides a fun, engaging and inspiring way to learn – it incorporates the whole mind and body.
