TAP in the Community this Weekend!

Today The Big Read continues its program to encourage reading in the Austin area with a Halloween Celebration. With the help of Austin Parks and Recreation, ACC’s The Big Read will sponsor a family friendly Halloween party. The event begins at 6:30 pm at Lorraine “Grandma” Camacho Activity Center, 34 Robert Martinez Jr. Street.

The Big Read is an effort to promote reading and increase the importance of literature with the help of many partners as well as a National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
TAP will have Halloween craft activities to add to the fun carnival like atmosphere.

This Sunday, Halloween day, Theatre Action Project is participating in the Mandala Harvest Festival at the HOPE Farmers Market.(10-3pm) This event is organized by The University of Texas, supported by partners: Austin Green Art and the Sustainable Food Center. Come enjoy an afternoon of celebrating culture! Don’t forget your canned goods or non-perishable foods to contribute to the edible art installation to benefit the Austin Food Bank.

TAP will have a Mandala activity table with a project that talks about creating a chart of symbols and colors which have meaning in your life. We also plan to make a poster for the event with some other info about different cultures and the history behind color and its meaning.

See you there Tappers!

About creativeactionaustin

We are based in Austin, Texas and reach more than 16,000 young people every year through our unique blend of theatre and education programs. Our programs expose young people to critical social problems and offer opportunities for them to creatively think about how they can be a part of solutions to these problems. Creative Action is a unique blend of art and education – for us, the two are intertwined. We believe that using the arts as a teaching method provides a fun, engaging and inspiring way to learn – it incorporates the whole mind and body.
