Play Time!

My 4 year old daughter comes home from preschool and recounts her day for me. She is so excited on the days she gets to go to Creative Movement. It is the best part of her day. They get to play, run, jump, and dance. The word exercise (for most adults) conjures memories of running laps, kickball, heat, sweat, and pain. As adults how can we recapture that excitement about exercise and ensure that our children don’t lose their joy of movement.

We can start by playing…playing with our kids, our spouse, and our friends. We live in an amazing city with so many things to do on any given weekend. Here is just a sampling of the wonderful things you can do with your family or friends just because you live in Austin!

Visit the Lakes

Veloway (bike and skate)

Take a Hike (Trails)

Caverns – (Innerspace, Wonder World, Natural Bridge)

Pick your own Fruit (Sweet Berry Farms)

Zilker Kite Festival – March 7th; 10-5

TAP will be at the Zilker Kite Festival; come enjoy puppet shows and face painting. Admission is free, so bring your family and friends, a picnic lunch and a kite (optional).

Until Next Time,

About creativeactionaustin

We are based in Austin, Texas and reach more than 16,000 young people every year through our unique blend of theatre and education programs. Our programs expose young people to critical social problems and offer opportunities for them to creatively think about how they can be a part of solutions to these problems. Creative Action is a unique blend of art and education – for us, the two are intertwined. We believe that using the arts as a teaching method provides a fun, engaging and inspiring way to learn – it incorporates the whole mind and body.
