Wooldridge Elementary

Here is a message from Freddy Carnes, one of TAP’s Artistic Associates, who is very excited about getting the 2008-2009 school year under way!

My name is Freddy Carnes and I teach afterschool at Wooldridge Elementary. We have had an amazing year already at Wooldridge. I have introduced the 1st and 2nd graders to Homer’s “The Odyssey” and we started with story of the Cyclops. We also talked about other giant stories like Jack and the Beanstalk. I found a great picture book that showed the one-eyed Cyclops, which some of the children thought was a little scary. I hope to tell them the enitire journey of Odysseus. We will use giant puppets and eventually video the more exciting sections. We’ll keep you updated on our progress!
